Alicia Keys is about to set it off at the Apollo Theater where the ninth annual Black Ball fundraiser for the singer’s Keep a Child Alive charity organization will take place this Thursday December 6th. The star-studded event has already raised over $13.8 million for Keep a Child Alive since it was started. Tickets range from $5000 – $100,000 for this high-end fundraising event.

Singer-songwriter Alicia Keys released a new children’s app this week. Inspired by her relationship with her grandmother, The Journals of Mama Mae and LeeLee tells the story a girl and her mythical grandmother through an immersive storytelling experience including original music by Keys.

Keys, AK Worldwide and Bento Box Interactive teamed up to produce the interactive experience, which lets users play instruments. The initial download of the app comes with four songs and a playable piano. Bento Box will eventually release additional story-packs that give users more stories, music and instruments.

A daily journal has kids answer 365 daily challenges, and a virtual piano within the app helps kids learn piano, with notes that synchronize on sheet music corresponding to what kids are playing on the piano.
