HARLEM WEEK 2017 events start this Sunday

Harlem Week 2017 kicks off this Sunday with “A Great Day in Harlem” at U.S. Grant National Memorial Park near West 122nd Street and Riverside Drive.  The FREE day long family-oriented event features Outdoor Festival, Picnic, Fashion Show and Concerts, saluting Gospel, Dance, Theater, Latin, Rhythm & Blues and Jazz. There will also be arts & crafts, food from around the world, vendors, exhibitions, corporate exhibits, career recruitment and much more.

Stage performances include the Artz, Rootz & Rhythm Cultural Showcase from 1-3PM with Harlem School of The Arts, NJPAC Wells Fargo Jazz For Teens, Impact Repertory Theatre, Uptown Dance Academy and Romeo Mputu.

Gospel Caravan from 3-5PM featuring The McDonald’s Gospel Super Choir, Vy Higginsen’s Gospel for Teens, The Harlem/Japan Gospel Choir, The Harlem Heritage Gospel Choir and more.

Fashion Fusion Fashion Show from 5 -6PM featuring local, national and international designers

Concert Under The Stars – 6 – 8:30PM featuring Ledisi, The Force MD’s, James “D-Train” Williams along with Music Director Ray Chew (“Dancing With The Stars”) and the Harlem Music Festival All-Star Band.

Along with “A Great Day in Harlem,” Harlem Week events all month long also include the Percy Sutton Harlem 5k Run on Saturday, August 26th,  “Summer in the City” on August 19th and “Harlem Day” on August 20th.
