Apollo Theater AFRICA NOW! South Africa festival has begun
The Apollo Theater’s four-day AFRICA NOW! festival has begun, and promises a full weekend of amazing events. In partnership with the World Music Institute, this year’s Africa Now! celebrates South Africa, spotlighting the next generation of South African music makers. The festival events include a Live Wire, Apollo Uptown Hall, Apollo Music Cafe performances and a blow out Mainstage concert event with Hugh Masekela, and an all-star roster of talented performers. Hosted by Dr. Felicia Mabuza-Suttle and Michael J. Feeney, The Apollo Uptown Hall (FREE rsvp) this Sunday at 3pm will wrap up this weekend’s events, and will feature a Harlem/South Africa Connection panel discussion that will focus on Harlem’s social, political, and cultural relationship with South Africa. Panelists include Harry Belafonte and former Mayor David N. Dinkins and more.
