Harlem Shake Restaurant Launches “Miss Harlem Shake” contest
If you have visited and enjoyed the good eats at Harlem Shake burger and milkshake restaurant in the heart of Harlem, you’ve certainly noticed the prominently displayed images of “Miss Harlem Shake” poster girl, Harlem resident, actress and model Shannon Thornton. She was an excellent choice to represent the image of Harlem Shake since the restaurant opened, but it is now time to select a new “Miss Harlem Shake”, who “will be beautiful inside and out and should embody the culture that makes Harlem special.”
Starting this Friday, May 16th (Harlem Shake’s one year anniversary), ladies from Harlem 18 years and older can apply in-store or online to be the next Harlem Shake poster girl! You can also download this application form. Along with acting as the face of the restaurant for one year, the new Miss Harlem Shake will win $500 for themselves, $1,000 for a local non-profit of their choice, a headshot photo on Harlem Shake restaurant’s wall of fame, and free Harlem Shake burgers for a year. Submissions for this contest will be accepted from May 16th to June 30th, and then ten Semi-finalists will be selected in July by Harlem Shake. In August, in-store customer voting will determine the three top Miss Harlem Shake finalists who will go on to attend the final Awards ceremony party in September, where a few celebrity judges will be on hand to select the new “Miss Harlem Shake.”
Harlem Trends will follow this contest throughout, and keep you updated as the excitement builds around this event.
Miss Harlem Shake Contest
Do you have what it takes to be “Miss Harlem Shake”?!
WHAT: Harlem Shake, a modern and fun take on the classic “burger and milkshake joint” in the heart of Harlem, is hosting its first annual “Miss Harlem Shake” contest – no crazy dance moves or YouTube videos required! The restaurant, which opened in May 2013, is looking for one lucky lady from Harlem who deserves to wear a crown. · Brenda Braxton: Tony Award-nominated Broadway star
· Cynde Watson: Make-up artist and beauty expert who’s worked with Carmen Electra, Giselle Bundchen, Queen Latifah and more
