Harlem Celebrates Frankie Manning’s Centennial
This Monday Memorial Day May 26th, Harlem will celebrate famed dancer Frankie Manning‘s Centennial birthday and the Lindy Hop with some swinging uptown events from 12:00 Noon – 5:00 pm, presented by Harlem Park to Park and Harlem One Stop. It’s all part of a week-long celebration and tribute to Frankie Manning 100 in New York City this week. Several Harlem hotspots will offer special deals and discounts on Monday.
12:00 Noon -Meet at the Savoy Plaque, Lenox Avenue between 141st and 140th. Frankie Manning & World Lindy Hop Day proclamations, special speakers, and Shim Sham tribute to Frankie Manning.
1:00 pm Procession to school yard at 135th just off Lenox Avenue.
2:00 pm DJ social dance music, dance group performances, and Swing to the Sounds of the Harlem Renaissance Orchestra from 2pm – 3:15pm!
