Total Equity Now (TEN) #RockThoseReads Literacy Across Harlem Day April 1st
As always, the first of the month in Harlem is all about Literacy Across Harlem Day, when Total Equity Now (TEN) and community partners encourage all Harlemites to #RockThoseReads. You can participate by “carrying reading materials proudly, publicly, conspicuously in celebration and commemoration or our community-based identities as readers, writers, and learners!”
If you get the chance this Tuesday, April 1st, you can also join an inter-generational team of volunteers in promoting reading to the Harlem community from 3:30 p.m. to 5:00 p.m., on the southeast corner of 125th Street and Amsterdam Avenue. For 90 minutes participants will hand out Literacy Across Harlem Day flyers, promote the importance of reading, and encourage others to carry their “reads” outside of their bags.
Also, at the Literacy Across Harlem Day partners and establishments listed below you are invited to “swap those reads” (leave a gently used book and take one that another Harlemite dropped off).
