It’s time for Harlem Week 2013 to begin with about 100 events scheduled from the end of July through August.  HARLEM WEEK 2013 “Living The Dream: Celebrating History” kicks off with “A Great Day in Harlem” this Sunday, July 28 at Grant’s Tomb on 122nd Street and Riverside Drive.  Hosted and presented by WBLS Radio, the full day off events (12pm-8:30pm) during “A Great Day in Harlem” includes a Cultural Showcase at 1pm, Gospel Caravan at 3pm, Fashion Fusion at 5pm and a “Concert Under The Stars” featuring a Motown Musical Theme – Songs in The Key of Life and a salute to Stevie Wonder at 6pm. This year’s “A Great Day in Harlem” theme is “Saluting the 150th Anniversary of the signing of The Emancipation Proclamation.”

Celebrating the 150th Anniversary of The Emancipation Proclamation

With an expected attendance of 40,000, “A Great Day in Harlem” is a day long family-oriented event. Participants can enjoy an Outdoor Festival, Picnic, Fashion Show and Concerts, saluting Gospel, Dance, Theater, Latin, Rhythm & Blues and Jazz. There will also be arts & crafts, food from around the world, vendors, exhibitions, corporate exhibits, career recruitment and much more! Check out all of the “Great Day in Harlem” events below:

International Cultural Showcase

Featuring Millenium Dance Company, National Dance Institute and The African Chorus Ensemble.

APOLLO Theater Salutes HARLEM WEEK

During Amateur Night, each week will feature a special Harlem act. Harlem residents can experience these Amateur Nights at the Apollo

on Wednesdays in August for half-price. You must present a valid photo ID and proof of residence when purchasing tickets at the Apollo Box Office. A limit of two half-price tickets per show.
