Gil Noble, “Like It Is” host dies at 80

We are sad to report that Gil Noble, Harlem born journalist, producer and host of WABC-TV’s “Like It Is” television program has passed away at 80.  “Brother Gil” was dedicated to reporting news, and the struggle for advancement of African-Americans in a career that spanned over five decades at WABC-TV, from anchoring weekend newscasts to becoming the host of “Like It Is” where he created programs and documentaries covering Black America.

Gil Noble stepped down from hosting “Like It Is” after suffering a stroke last year. Our condolences go out to his family, may he rest in peace.

WABC-TV broadcast the following tribute to Gil Noble this evening:

The Amsterdam News reports that a wake for Gil Noble will be held from 7-10pm at Abyssinian Baptist Church in Harlem, where the funeral services will be held on Friday at 10am. Donations can be sent to Gil Noble Archives, P.O. Box 43138, Upper Montclair, NJ 07043. The website Gilnoblearchive.com is expected to launch soon.
