Whitney Houston Tribute in Harlem
Harlem came out to show love for Whitney Houston on Monday evening after the call was made by local radio stations for people to gather on the Harlem State Office building Plaza on 125th street to pray for and celebrate the music and life of the Queen of pop after her tragic death. People also expressed their thoughts for Whitney Houston by writing a message on a special wall set-up next to the Apollo Theater where Houston’s hit song “The Greatest Love Of All” video was shot back in 1985.
We’ve experienced similar gatherings following the death of Don Cornelius, Michael Jackson and James Brown, and there’s no place on earth like Harlem USA and the Apollo Theater to commemorate the great African-American entertainers we have lost. God bless you Whitney, we thank you for your beautiful voice. Rest in peace.
NY1 was on hand to cover it all, watch as Harlem residents and New Yorkers pay tribute to Whitney Houston.
