Here’s a collection of music that brings back great memories for me, the awesome sounds and styles in Spanish Harlem’s El Barrio back in the day. Fania Records had the Salsa scene locked down and were considered to be the “Latin Motown” of the day, but the record label also released a bunch of other Latin influenced music as well.
On this 4-CD, 64-track collection El Barrio: The Ultimate Collection Of Latin Boogaloo, Disco, Funk & Soul, Fania recording artists like Ray Barretto, Mongo Santamaria, Fania All Stars, Joe Bataan, Louie Ramirez, Johnny Colon, and Tito Puente deliver some of the grooviest tunes of the ’60s and ’70s. If you didn’t know, now you know!
