Romare Bearden Honored on ArtCrawl Harlem Summer Trolley Tour
Celebrating the Centennial of artist Romare Bearden’s birth, ArtCrawl Harlemand the Romare Bearden Foundation have teamed up to present a six-gallery guided trolley tour which will highlight works that reflect African-American life, as created by the legendary artist while he lived in Harlem. The four hour “Summer Trolley Tour” will make stops at the Canvas Paper and Stone Gallery, Dwyer Cultural Center, Essie Green Galleries, Rio II Gallery, Strivers Garden Gallery and Studio Museum in Harlem, and if it’s in your budget, several Romare Bearden works will be on sale. ArtCrawl Harlem promises insightful commentary on Bearden’s life, art and influence along the way.
So here are the details. The meet-up is at Rio II Gallery, located at 135th street – 583 Riverside Drive on the 7th Floor. The Trolley tour is from 12:00PM to 4PM this Saturday, August 6th, but the organizers have also added two new dates – Saturday August 20, and Saturday September 10th 2011 to the schedule. The tour is priced at $55, which also includes a reception featuring some eats, wine and a live jazz band until 6:00PM back at the Rio II Gallery.
